Meet Alexis Becerra!

Alexis is from Ponchatoula and is the oldest of six siblings. She attended Holy Ghost Catholic School, where she met her husband, Brady. But, they didn't start dating until they went to St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She graduated in 2016 and started going to Baton Rouge Community College to pursue a nursing degree. She graduated in December 2021, and is now a Labor and Delivery nurse at North Oaks Hospital. She married Brady in February of 2022, and spends her time working and dreaming of her next trip to Walt Disney World.

We want to thank Alexis for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.

Q: What led you to your current career?
A: My mom is a nurse, and I saw her making a difference for patients. I knew I wanted to do that, also. I knew I was interested in Labor and Delivery, but it wasn't until my clinicals, that I made my decision.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: I would have to say Roux & Brew's Brunch. It is all amazing.

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: When my Mom told us she was pregnant for the sixth time. I was 12 years old, and we didn't believe her. They had just purchased a new car the week before, and it wouldn't fit a 6th kid!

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Disney World. It is my happy place. If I could convince my family to move there, I would live there!

Q: What is your favorite movie? What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: Steel Magnolias is my favorite movie. When it comes on, friends text me and tell me what channel. The first movie I remember seeing was Finding Nemo with my Mom and sister, Kathleen.

Q: What advice would you give a group of people?
A: Don't let other people walk all over you or knock you down.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: To have children.

Q: What is your favorite music or an artist or band that you would like to see?
A: I am really into Pop2K right now. I would love to see Miley Cyrus in concert. I told Brady if she comes somewhat close, we are going.

Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: Paul's Cafe. My parents would take me when I was a baby and the workers would play with me while they ate. It is also where Brady and I went on our first date!

Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met, who is it?
A: Walt Disney. I would just listen to him talk.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: The sense of home and I love that we live in the heart of it.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: With kids in a house. Working at North Oaks Labor & Delivery. Having annual passes to Disney.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: I want to have a lot of kids.

Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: Comfort.

Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: A chef, because I like to clean.

Q: If you had to choose one type of cuisine to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
A: Mexican.

Q: What do you do when you are alone in your car?
A: If I am driving home from a shift of work, I am in silence. Other times I listen to music and sing.

Q: What is the last gift you gave and received?
A: The last gift I gave was a North Face backpack to Brady for his birthday. The last gift I received was a trip to a plant nursery with my Mom, and she let me pick out whatever plants I wanted for my birthday.

Q: What are you known for?
A: The size of my family and being Brady's wife.

Q: What is your favorite 2000s jam?
A: Glamorous by Fergie!

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
A: I would like to read minds, but have the ability to turn it on and off.

Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: Shopping for clothes and home decor and gardening.

Q: What is your most commonly used emoji?
A: Laughing with tears.

Q: What is something you are most proud of?
A: That I landed my dream job so early in my career.

Q: What two items would you take with you if you shipwrecked on a deserted island where food and water were taken care of?
A: My phone and hairbrush.

Q: What is the funniest thing that happened to you recently?
A: My siblings got into a fight on the boat recently and were screaming at each other. It was about something silly, so I thought it was hilarious.

Q: If you won the lottery, what would you purchase or spend money on?
A: A house near Disney, start having kids and buy a plane.
