Meet Casey Robert!

Casey is a lifelong Ponchatoula resident. She is married to husband, Garrick, and mother to Lauren (12), Grant (9), and Dominic (1). Casey attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and Ponchatoula High School. She earned her degree from LSU in Interior Design. Casey is the Owner and Interior Designer at Chaleureux.

We want to thank Casey for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.

Q: What led you to your current career?
A: I grew up around the construction industry. My dad, Ronald Perrin, is a General Contractor. I got into commercial design and was traveling a lot for that. Once I started having children, I pulled back. I wanted to stay local and retail ownership provides a home base for me. It’s a place where I can serve the community, but also a place where my kids are welcome. I strive to keep a good work-life balance. Also, I really want to do my part to keep downtown Ponchatoula alive and thriving.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: China Lotus is, of course, a favorite. I get the Catfish Oriental with Crawfish. I also love Paolo’s. They have a delicious Capresi Salad.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in the area?
A: Basically my whole life, except college. I opened Chaleureux in 2015.

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: Growing up in the country, close to my cousins, on my grandparents’ farmland.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: North Italy. The weather is cooler and it is so beautiful there.

Q: What is your favorite movie? What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: My favorite movie is Sabrina (the one with Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford). My first movie in the theater was The Lion King.

Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
A: Make sure you love who you are with and where you are.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: Travel to Hawaii.

Q: What is your favorite music or an artist/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: Dolly Parton! Or Elton John.

Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: The old D & R in Ponchatoula for a good hamburger and malt.

Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met, who is it and where would you go?
A: Reese Witherspoon. I think she is brilliant and I would love to chat with her about her career.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: The sense of community that always exists. The willingness of everyone to help each other and volunteer their time for things.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A:  Hopefully on a beach, relaxing! But also still running my business.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: I’m a huge foodie. My husband and I cook often and make almost everything from scratch.

Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: The place where you are with the people that you love.

Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: Oh, definitely a housekeeper.

Q: Most commonly used emoji?
A: The smiley face with the rosy cheeks.

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
A: Flying.

Q: Do you have a hobby?
A: I don’t think you can consider them hobbies, but raising my children and running my business. Those are the things that take my time and I enjoy doing them.

Q: What is something you are most proud of?
A: My family. My children are excellent people and I am proud of that. And also having my business survive for 6 years already.
