Meet Chance Wooton!

Chance is married to wife, Miranda. Together they have a daughter, Violet, who is 6 months old. Chance earned his Bachelor of Science degree from University of New Orleans. He enjoys bird-watching, smoking meat, and works for the state as a Sanitarian in St. Charles parish.

We want to thank Chance for spending some time with us and letting us learn about his life and family!

Q: What led you to your current career?
A: I was looking into different government jobs, and saw the post of Sanitarian. I thought it would be a good fit for me, because I have my degree in Biology. I have been doing it for almost 4 years.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: A Japanese restaurant, Nomiya, on Magazine Street. I always order the Tonkotsu Ramen, it is so good.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in the area?
A: I have lived in St. Charles parish for about 2 years, and we are looking to relocate to St. Tammany very soon.

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: Watching Star Wars with my cousin!

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Hawaii! We had to cancel our honeymoon trip due to COVID. We will definitely be planning another trip soon!

Q: What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: Star Wars, A New Hope is my favorite movie, and the first movie I saw in a theater was Jurassic Park.

Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
A: Make sure you check inspections online before choosing a restaurant. (eatsafe.la.gov)

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: Skydiving!

Q: What is your favorite music or an artist/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: I like alternative rock. I think seeing Bob Marley perform would have been unique.

Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: Grammy's which was an aftercare/daycare center. I spent a lot of time there.

Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met, dead or alive, who is it and where would you go?
A: Barack Obama and I would take him to Nomiya. I think he would love some ramen!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: The large amount of restaurants and breweries available to you at all times. Lots of options.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Living in St. Tammany with my family and enjoying life with them.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: I have a massive tattoo that covers my entire back of a samurai fighting a tiger.

Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: My family and my pets.

Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: Definitely a chef!

Q: What is your most commonly used emoji?
A: Smirking emoji

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
A: Flight would be cool.

Q: Do you have a hobby?
A: Playing Dungeons and Dragons.

Q: What is something you are most proud of?
A: Finally graduating college!
