Meet D'Ann Davis!

D'Ann works as the Director of Sales of Hampton Inn by Hilton Hammond, LA. She is the proud mother to Caroline, who attends Southeastern Lab School, and Hunny to Larry. She loves being involved in her community through a number of organizations, such as the Junior Auxiliary of Hammond, the Tangi Chamber of Commerce and PRIDE Lady Basketball Mentorship Program.

We want to thank D'Ann for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.

Question: What led you to your current career?
A: I have been in the hospitality industry through various positions for all of my life. I was looking for an opportunity where I could use my skills, and I love taking care of people.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: I love going out to eat, so I cannot just choose one! My go-to when I am on the run is the Salmon Spinach Salad from Blackened Brew. I also love Tacos & Beer's Ceviche. From Mariner’s, I order the Jim and Dave's Kickin' Chicken. Cate Street Seafood Station has awesome Crawfish Pepperjack Cheese Dip and Steak Tips on their lunch menu!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in the area?
A: I was raised in Bluff Creek, Louisiana, which is about 45 minutes away. I went to Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee. I lived in Central London for almost 2 years, and made my way to Hammond about 17 years ago. I was a live-in nanny for my sister who was the head coach of the Lady Lions Basketball team and my brother-in-law was coaching with the Utah Flash. I have had various jobs over the years, and I am happy to have found my spot with The Hampton Inn!

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: One New Year's Eve my cousins were throwing bottle rockets at each other, and one got caught in my sister's brand new jacket that she got for Christmas. They all got in trouble!

Another favorite memory was when the Book Mobile would come during the Summertime to our street. It was a big deal!

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Greece! I would like to explore the Mediterranean. I would also love to go back to London and visit with old friends. But Key West is our next planned vacation.

Q: What is your favorite movie? What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: Love Actually is my favorite! First movie in a theater was The Jungle Book. My older siblings were watching Empire Strikes Back in another theater. When The Jungle Book was over, I snuck into their movie and watched some.

Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
A: Be kind, you never know what someone is going through.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: Mediterranean vacation!

Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: Northshore Broadcasting. It has been part of our community for so long. When someone new moves to the area, I tell them to listen to them to learn about our area and upcoming events.

Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met and is alive today, who is it and where would you go?
A: Matthew McConaughey. You never know what you would get from him. Would he be philosophical or the "Alright, alright, alright" guy?

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: I love the downtown areas. The small town Americana vibe we have is something unlike anywhere else in the world. It is so welcoming and inviting.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A:  In 2031, I would like to be the Director of Sales in both Hammond hotels, Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites. I would like to be living in the country with my Hunny and fishing on weekends, enjoying life.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: That I lived in London for almost 2 years.

Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: Where my family is, that is home to me.

Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: Definitely an executive assistant that would handle ALL paperwork in my life, work and personal.
