By Ashley & Andrew LeSaicherre | March 27, 2021

Meet Dane F.r and Caitlyn T.!

Dane was born and raised in Pennsylvania and Caitlyn is from New Orleans. They met at University of New Orleans and have been married for 6 years. They live in Folsom with their many animals, including horses, chickens, and even a donkey. They both enjoy careers in the petroleum industry.

We had fun getting to sit down with them recently to learn more about their lives!

Q: What led you to your current career?
Dane: I got a Masters in Geology from University of New Orleans and, after grad school, got a job in the field.
Caitlyn: I have a Masters in Petroleum Engineering, and I also worked in the field before that.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
D: I love Keith Young’s Steakhouse and I order the ribeye. My second go-to restaurant is Glynn’s Drive-In, where I get the burger.
C: Isabella’s Pizzeria, and I build my own pizza. Ricotta, pepperoni, kalamata olives and onions.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in the area?
D: I have lived on the Northshore for 10 years.
C: After Katrina, we moved to Slidell. Then I went to LSU and finished my undergraduate degree at University of New Orleans, where I met Dane.

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
D: Working on the beef farm with my grandfather.
C: When we got our first horse, Chance. We would ride in City Park.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
D: Patagonia, Argentina. I have heard it is beautiful.
C: Yellowstone National Park. I would want to vacation to see the natural beauty.

Q: What is your favorite movie? What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
D: Dances With Wolves. And I can’t remember the first movie in a theater, but my grandmother took me to see Cujo. She didn’t know what the movie was about, and I remember her reaction being horror!
C: History of the World is my favorite. I think Jurassic Park was my first, I saw it with my aunt and uncle.

Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
D: Save for retirement early!
C: If you love the person next to you, make sure they know.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
D: Going to Oktoberfest.
C: Run my own horse in the Kentucky Derby.

Q: What is your favorite music or an artist/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?
D: Led Zeppelin
C: Allman Brothers Band

Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with, who is it and where would you go?
D: Vladimir Putin and we would go to The Chimes.
C: I would go with my grandmother (mom’s mother), and we would eat at Rips on the Lake.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
D: The geographical location. I like how we are close to cities like New Orleans and Houston, but also can have space and spread out on the Northshore.
C: How there is water all around us. I have worked in places where lakes and rivers are very far away, and I didn’t realize how much I would miss that until I didn’t have it.

Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
D:
I’m not sure, since I didn’t grow up here.
C: Brocato’s in New Orleans.

C: Operating a horse farm.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
D: If they don’t know, there’s a reason for that.
C: I don’t like cilantro, it tastes like soap to me.

Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
D: My wife and dogs.
C: Busy!

Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
Both: A landscaper!

D: Thumbs up.
C: The laughing out loud face that is turned to the side.
