Meet Laura Messer!
Laura grew up in Kenner, and is the middle daughter of three girls. She graduated from Mount Carmel Academy in New Orleans in 2003, then attended University of Louisiana of Lafayette. She graduated in 2007 with a degree in Marketing.
She also married her husband, Stewart, in 2007. They were cheer partners in college. They had their first daughter Charleigh in 2008, then their second daughter Presley in 2009. Cypress, their son, was born in 2014. Laura held various positions in the cheerleading industry, such as selling uniforms, coaching Central High School cheerleaders, and working in gyms.
She has taught Red Cross swim lessons since 2018, and this year became certified in Infant Survival Training (ISR) where she currently teaches children aged 6 months to 6 years survival techniques if needed.
She and her family live on an 11-acre farm where they have 2 dogs, 2 cats, chickens and honeybees.
We want to thank Laura for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.
Q: What led you to your current career?
A: When Charleigh was 3 years old, she drowned. She was administered CPR, and was in ICU, and I knew I wanted to help families not experience what we went through. I now teach children how to safely get out of drowning situations every day.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: Thai Green Leaf is one of our favorites! I love the Tom Yam Goong soup, their lettuce wraps and the green curry.
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: I was a springboard diver, and we traveled every summer for my competitions. My dad bought a camper, and we would travel together.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: I would like to go back to Australia. I went there as a freshmen in high school for 3 weeks as part of a student exchange program. It was awesome there.

A: Mi Patio. When we had just moved here, we would go there on Thursdays and listen to live music.
Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met, who is it?
A: It would have to be Jesus. I would let Him choose the restaurant and I would let Him talk about whatever He wanted.

A: That there is no traffic!
