The People Project:
Lauren Lee

By Ashley & Andrew LeSaicherre | July 16, 2022

Meet Lauren Lee!

Lauren is the oldest of 4 children. She has 2 sisters and 1 brother, and grew up in Ponchatoula. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School. Sadly, before she attended Ponchatoula High School, her sister, Brittany, was in a tragic accident and passed away. Lauren graduated, went to Southeastern Louisiana University, and received her Bachelors in Marketing. That same year, she married Jacob (whom she met through mutual friends), and began working. They had Rhett, and soon after, Palmer. Lauren is the Marketing Operation Coordinator at First Guaranty Bank. She is on the Board of Directors of the Downtown Ponchatoula Revitalization Program and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. They also have two dogs: Buck, a 12-year-old chocolate lab and Darla, a 1-year-old golden doodle.

We want to thank Lauren for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.

Q: What led you to your current career?
A: I obtained over 15 years of marketing and other various business experience, starting from even before graduating college. Working for multiple companies, from different industries, owning my own businesses (sometimes all of them at the same time), to now working as the Operations Marketing Coordinator at First Guaranty Bank. I am thankful for each position I had and have currently.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: It has to be Paul's Cafe. I order their red beans!

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: After Hurricane Katrina, we spent a lot of time together as a family because there wasn't much else going on. My whole family slept in one room that had the only air conditioner. Looking back, we didn't realize that would be the last time we would spend quality time with my sister. She passed away after that. So, while after Katrina was hard for so many, I look back and think of family time, especially with my sister.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Greece, the water looks so beautiful. And the mountains. It’s just a place I would like to see.

Q: What is your favorite movie? What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: My favorite movie is Little Rascals! The first movie I remember seeing in a theater was Pirates of the Caribbean with my cousin Laura Waller.

Q: Do you have a favorite book? What do you love about it?
A: I like to read and am a part of a book club! We are currently reading Lost Girls of Paris. It is a story about women who became spies in World War II. It is very good so far!

Q: What advice would you give a group of people?
A: Always be prepared.

Q: What is your favorite music or an artist or band that you would like to see?
A: I like country music, but I would like to see Stevie Nicks perform.

Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: Sciara's Skate Center! We would always go there!

Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met, who is it?
A: Morgan Wallen, and I would take him to Paul's!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: The sense of home. I remember the students who transferred after Katrina would say that they felt more at home here than where they were from. I love that we helped them feel that way.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: At the ballpark!

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: That I do not like Will Ferrell or the movie Forrest Gump.

Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: My family.

Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: A nanny, definitely!

Q: If you had to choose one type of cuisine to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Italian food.

Q: What do you do when you are alone in your car?
A: Jam out to 1990's music.

Q: What is the last gift you gave and received?
A: The last gift I gave was three bracelets with their names on them, for Jacob, April and my Mom. The last gift I received was patio furniture for Mother' Day.

Q: What are you known for?
A: My bubbly personality.

Q: What is your favorite 90s jam?
A: Wannabe by the Spice Girls!

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
A: To be super-Mom and get all the things done!

Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: Spending time with my kids, going to the river, fishing, hunting, and bringing my kids to their extracurricular activities!

Q: What is your most commonly used emoji?
A: The one where the face is peeking through its hands!

Q: What is something you are most proud of?
A: My family.

Q: What two items would you take with you if you shipwrecked on a deserted island where food and water were taken care of?
A: Fireworks and a lighter to let people know I am there.

Q: What is the funniest thing that happened to you recently?
A: Rekindling old friendships from my St. Joe days!

Q: If you won the lottery, what would you purchase or spend money on?
A: First I would pay off all debt, then I would save for education for the kids, then I would go travel! Some trips with all four of us, and some with just Jacob and me!
