Meet Lisa Hughes!
Lisa was born in New Orleans and raised in Chalmette, Louisiana. She is the oldest of three children. She has two younger brothers. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1985. She served her funeral director apprenticeship, earning that license in 1999. Lisa graduated from Nunez Community College in 2005 with an Associates in Computer Science.
She married Harry, her high school sweetheart, in 1987. Together, they have two children, Harry III and Megan. They also have three grandsons.
Together, Lisa and Harry own LN Hughes Funeral Services. They host The Living Well Christian Church Congregation that holds their Sunday morning services there. They also started a Grief Support Group that meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 3:00pm in the reception room. All are invited to attend.
Lisa is also the President of the Tangipahoa Professional Women's Organization.
We want to thank Lisa for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.
Q: What led you to your current career?
A: In 1990, Harry and I were saving to purchase a home. I got a part-time job in administration at the funeral home where my mother worked. I have been in the industry ever since. I earned my state license and finished my apprenticeship in 1999. I have worked in different funeral home corporations through the years.
We moved to Ponchatoula in 2005, near my parents. In 2018, I decided to open my own funeral home, so we purchased a former church and remodeled it. We are celebrating our 4 year anniversary, and what I think sets us apart is our customer service. You will work with me from start to finish. My families can call me anytime.
