Meet Lizzie Peyroux Brown!
Lizzie was born in New Orleans, but raised in Hammond. She was raised in a small business where she learned work ethic and how to provide great customer service. She was born into a lovely family as the oldest of three with an awesome sister and fun brother. She attended Holy Ghost Catholic School, then graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1999. Lizzie attended Louisiana State University, and while she was there, did the Walt Disney World College Program. In 2002, she worked in Merchandise, where she sewed Mickey Mouse ears, which they do not offer anymore. She also worked in the Confectionary making treats and sweets for guests. Once she returned to LSU, she graduated in 2004 with a degree in Business Administration. She now works as a senior veterinary pharmaceutical sales representative in the New Orleans area. She met her husband, Doug, through a beach volleyball league in 2007. Together, they have twin daughters, Emma and Hazel, who are six years old. Her goal is to be a “bougie cat bitty”, and she is close, as she has three cats, Kit, Queso and BBQ.
Lizzie is one of the founders of a marching parade in the French Quarter, Krewe Boheme. She also parades with three other Mardi Gras krewes, as Mardi Gras is her favorite holiday. Lizzie and her family are parishioners of St. Catherine of Siena in Metairie.
We want to thank Lizzie for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.
Q: What led you to your current career?
A: After working in my parents’ veterinary hospital, I needed sales training to take the next step. I was honored to work in Sales at Arnaud’s Restaurant and experience fine dining. After being there for a few years, I was able to merge the sales and veterinary worlds. So in 2007, I became a veterinary pharmaceutical sales rep, where I get to talk to the best humans on earth- veterinarians and vet hospital staff. It is the perfect merger of our family business and sales. I have been doing it for over 15 years. In 2008, I was voted Rookie of the Year and the best pharmaceutical rep in Louisiana.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: I love restaurants! In Hammond, I like Salty Joe's BBQ. In Amite, I like The Boston Restaurant's sushi. In New Orleans, I love Lebanon’s Cafe. Their Vegetable Plate is magical, I add gyro meat to it. I also love Commander’s Palace at The Chef's Table. I love the Banana Blossom. Literally anything and everything they serve is so good. Arnaud's is another favorite- their soufflé potatoes, baked oysters appetizer and milk brandy punch are the best!
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: I had a wonderful childhood. There are so many good ones. When our dad and our grandfather dressed as Santa and came was always a highlight. I really liked how we spent all of our holidays working together at the family business. Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4th, Easter, every single one. We would be taking care of pets staying there while their owners were away. I also remember picking up pinecones for Dad for 1 cent each before he cut the grass. All great memories.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Santorini, Greece. it looks so beautiful. Israel is also on my list, as I want to travel and be where Jesus once stood. But, I could always go back to Tuscany and Paris anyday, any time.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: My favorite movie is Ever After. I have no idea how many times I have seen it.
Q: What was your first concert?
A: I saw Michael Bolton and Meatloaf with my parents. And they were both awesome.
Q: Do you have a favorite book? What do you love about it?
A: The Count of Monte Cristo. In high school, our teacher, Mrs. Donna Gay, required us to read it. We were not looking forward to it, we were dreading it. But once we got started, we all were reading ahead. It is the best book and we were totally not expecting it.
Q: What advice would you give a group of people?
A: Be kind. Never assume other people's situations. Be the person your dog/cat thinks you are. Kindness prevents conflict.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: I have a few: play volleyball in my 50s in the Senior Volleyball Olympics, see my children get married and meet our grandchildren, and travel for a year with my family.
Q: What is your favorite music or an artist or band that you would like to see?
A: I grew up with 60s music because of my Dad, so I love that music. I also like 80s/90s music. I would like to see The Beatles perform in Liverpool and Mozart perform in my backyard.
Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: Hammond Animal Hospital is one of my accounts, and when I walk in there it is beyond nostalgic. I grew up there! Also, driving through downtown Hammond.
Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met, who is it?
A: I would like to eat with Jesus, wherever He wants to go. I would also like to volunteer with Mother Teresa.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: I love trying new restaurants and introducing our children to places that are nostalgic to me. Nowhere else in the world do people welcome you so intensely as in south Louisiana.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Being with family as much as possible, traveling as much as possible. I really want to focus on building human connections.
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: I help people organize and declutter their houses.
Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: Where my family is.
Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: A trainer, chef, house manager and personal assistant all wrapped into one.
Q: If you had to choose one type of cuisine to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
A: Right now, I am on a Thai kick, but I would have to say Italian food from Italy.
Q: What do you do when you are alone in your car?
A: Depends on the day, either I call someone or listen to podcasts. I like Smartless, and ones on parenting and self care.
Q: What is the last gift you gave and received?
A: The last gift I gave was a birthday gift to a 2-year-old, Mila. We gave her cash for her education fund. The last gift I received was alone time. Doug gave me that after a hard day.

A: Besides family, my attitude in life to not let people stop me when I am determined.
Q: What two items would you take with you if you shipwrecked on a deserted island where food and water were taken care of?
A: Doug and my Dad!
Q: If you won the lottery, what would you purchase or spend money on?
A: Travel all across the world with my family. I would also want to help the homeless, specifically women and children. Creating an organization to help them get on their feet when they are going through a rough time. I would also want to develop an orphanage.
Q: What do you want your legacy to be?
A: To "Be Like Mongo". A friend, Chris Lomongo aka Mongo, passed away recently very suddenly and he was the most kind, positive, loving, good friend. He was always there for his friends and family. I would like to be remembered for being similar to him.
