Meet Parker Layrisson!

Parker is a Ponchatoula native and the proud husband to Brandie and father to two young sons. He is an attorney (LSU Law School) and is the owner of Parker Layrisson Law Firm. Parker also keeps his Ponchatoula community updated with local happenings, newsworthy events, and intriguing interviews through Ponchatoula.com.

We want to thank Parker for spending some time with us and letting us get to know a little more about him!

Q: What led you to your current career?
A: My mom inspired me to become an injury attorney when she got hurt in a car wreck. Now I focus on making it easier for injured people to get well and get paid.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: I'd pick Hi-Ho #1 because I worked there for four years in high school. Mr. JT Guzzardo and Ms. Celeste Alexander taught me so much about treating people with respect. Plus it's tough to beat a Hi-Ho BBQ with Barq's root beer and potato chips.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in the area?
A: I've lived in Ponchatoula since 1979, except for time away at college and law school.

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: I loved long summer days "running the roads" with my buddies on our bikes. The streets of Ponchatoula were safe yet full of adventure. It felt like freedom.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Italy. Early in our marriage, Brandie and I spent 17 magical days there. We cannot wait to return and share the Italian experience with our sons.

Q: What is your favorite movie? What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: The movie Goonies captivated me as a kid. It had BMX bikes, booby traps, and pirate ships. As an adult, I even attended the Goonies 25th reunion festival in Astoria, Oregon. My first moviegoing experience was also amazing because my older brother Jean-Paul took me to a special screening of The Karate Kid at LSU's outdoor Greek Theatre.

Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
A: Be kind.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: Traveling throughout Europe with my wife and kids.

Q: What is your favorite music or an artist/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: My dad, brothers, and I loved to watch Jerry Jeff Walker in concert. His songs remind us of the great times at our camps in Manchac and Mississippi.

Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: Richardson's Hardware Store (now Roussel's Fine Jewelry & Gifts). I spent tons of time there as a child. It was full of Ponchatoula characters.

Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met, dead or alive, who is it and where would you go?
A: I'd love to watch a baseball game and eat a hot dog with my grandfather Louie Layrisson at Yankee Stadium.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: I love our combination of small town charm and proximity to New Orleans. It's the best of both worlds.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Raising teenagers with the woman of my dreams right here in Ponchatoula.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: I once worked in the Swiss Alps.

Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: Family.

Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: Housekeeper for sure. I'm a slob.

Q: What is your most commonly used emoji?
A: The crying laughing face.

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
A: Flight.

Q: Do you have a hobby?
A: Hosting the Ponchatoula Live show. It's fun to share my friends and neighbors' stories with our local community.

Q: What is something you are most proud of?
A: My wife and sons. They are incredible human beings. I love them so much.
