Meet Stephanie Daussat!
Stephanie is originally from Chalmette, and attended Holy Angels Academy. She went to Southeastern for undergrad, then got a Masters Degree in Sports Medicine. She was an athletic trainer at John Curtis and Louis McGehee. Stephanie has been married for almost 20 years to Tommy, and they had 3 children together. “We lost one, and she is our angel, Ainsley. We have Jack who has Autism and Andrew. When we discovered Jack's disability, I decided to switch careers to the nonprofit world to learn more about how to better care for Jack. I have worked at Northshore Helping Families, SOAR and now work at OPTIONS.”
Q: What led you to your current career?
A: I wanted to focus and learn more about adults with disabilities. OPTIONS has taught me so much.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: I love Cena's Crab Cakes!
Q: How long have you lived or worked in the area?
A: I moved to Hammond to attend Southeastern for my undergrad. We have lived in a few places, but we decided to come back to make Tangi our home.
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: Going to Gulf Shores with my family.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: I would love to go to Rome and spend time at The Vatican. Also, I would love to go to Paris to see Notre Dame. Holy Grotto at Lourdes is also on my list to visit. I would like to get closer to my Catholic roots.
Q: What is your favorite movie? What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: Something Borrowed is my favorite movie! I don't think it was the first movie I saw in the theater, but a distinct memory I have is when I saw Rocky IV. When Rocky beat the Russian fighter, everyone in the theater stood up and applauded and cheered. I remember thinking how strange that was!
Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
A: Never ever take anything for granted. Appreciate what you’ve got!
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: Going to Italy and France!
Q: What is your favorite music or an artist/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: I would love to see Sam Smith and Maroon 5 again.
Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: Southeastern! I am so impressed with how they have maintained the campus. Also, I love downtown Hammond. We could have moved to St. Tammany, but we chose to be here.
Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met and is alive today, who is it and where would you go?
A: Donald Trump- it would be wild! I would take him to Arnaud's in the French Quarter.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: I love the quaintness of downtown Hammond. I also really like the antique shops and restaurants. I feel like it is a great mix of family-focused, but with options for adults to have fun, too.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Andrew, my youngest, will be in college. We always joke that we are going to follow him wherever he goes to school!
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: That I have a Masters Degree in Sports Medicine.
Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: Immediate family, including my parents. Doesn't matter where we are, as long as we are together.
Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: Easy, no brainer- I would definitely choose to have a housekeeper!
Q: What is your most commonly used emoji?
A: The monkey holding his hands over his mouth and the smiley face with clenched teeth!
