Meet Amanda Dimm!

Amanda is from Hammond, and is the youngest of 3. Her siblings were in high school when she was born, so she is definitely the baby of the family! She attended Holy Ghost School, Hammond High School then Southeastern Louisiana University. She graduated in 2007 with a degree in Psychology. She married Dwyane in 2015, and together they have Teddy, a beagle/dachshund mix. They rescued him Dante's Hope a local nonprofit that finds homes for animals.

We want to thank Amanda for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.

Q: What led you to your current career?
A: I have worked in the real estate world in some capacity for the last 15 years. It started when I was in college, I worked part time for a local builder as an administrative assistant. I wore many hats within the company for a few years. I attended closings and I was just learning the business. In 2013, I decided to become licensed as a mortgage lender. I work for LH Lending, and I am the preferred lender for Level Homes. But I can help anyone if they are looking to refinance or purchase a home. I really love what I do.

Dwayne opened Crossfit Baton Rouge in 2012. He is such a great coach and so dedicated to the members. Even if I wasn't married to him, I would go there!

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: Definitely Jacmel Inn is my favorite. It is where I met my husband in 2008 (he was our server when I was having a girls night!). It is where he proposed years later. I always order the seared scallops and risotto. Do yourself a favor and dip the bread in the house salad dressing!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in the area?
A: I have lived in Hammond my whole life until 2018. We were commuting to Baton Rouge everyday, and we made the hard decision to move to Prairieville, so we could be closer to our jobs. We were spending so much time commuting everyday. It was a hard decision, but overall it has been great.

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: The Holy Ghost School Fair! I looked forward to it for so long, and it was just a short weekend. I loved running around with my friends riding rides. I also love that my childhood was before all the tech gadgets kids have today. I was outside everyday playing with friends, rollerblading and playing in the woods.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Banff, Canada! Lake Louise looks so beautiful in photos. Once the borders are open to go visit Canada, we are going to be planning our trip. They have so many outdoor activities.

Q: What is your favorite movie? What is the first movie you saw in a theater?
A: I love cheesy movies we grew up watching. Mrs. Doubtfire, Home Alone, and Meet the Parents. The first movie I remember seeing in the theater was My Girl with my sister.

Q: What advice would you give a group of people?
A: You can't always be a people pleaser. Don't sacrifice your potential happiness because you are always trying to make everyone else happy. This is something I am working on myself!

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: Going to Iceland to swim in that beautiful blue water.

Q: What is your favorite music or an artist/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: I have such a wide variety of music I love. I grew up loving Clint Black, my parents took me to see him in concert when I was in the 2nd grade. I would love to meet him. I think Bruno Mars would put on a great show.

Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: The old Hammond Square Mall! Every now and then photos float around of how the mall was when we were kids. I have to look at them every time. So many memories pop up. I also love how we had different movie theaters and on Fridays we looked in the paper to see what was playing where.

Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met and is alive today, who is it and where would you go?
A: John Mulaney. He is a comedian, and every time I watch him I can't stop laughing. I would let him choose the restaurant, it wouldn't matter. I probably wouldn't eat much, as I would be laughing the whole time.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: I love coming back to Hammond. I always run into people I know, regardless of where I go.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Still in the mortgage business, still traveling and still happily married.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: I cannot sleep without socks on. Regardless of the temperature! If I fall asleep without socks on, if I wake up, I will get up and get socks. I have been like that since I was a kid. I don't know if it is interesting, but something unique people make fun of me for!

Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: Family, safe.

Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: Hands down, a housekeeper!

Q: If you had to choose one type of cuisine to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
A: I love Mexican food. I could eat it every day.

Q: What do you do when you are alone in your car?
A: I listen to music or podcasts. I like The Office Ladies and true crime podcasts.

Q: What is the last gift you gave and received?
A: Last gift I gave was a new Apple watch for my husband. The one he had was an older model, so he upgraded! Last gift I received was from Jennifer Waguespack. She gave me a massage from Bumble Lane. I cannot wait to use it.

Q: What are you known for?
A: I am known for taking photos and documenting events. Also, my crazy good memory.

Q: What is your favorite 90’s jam?
A: Jump Around by House of Pain.

Q: Most commonly used emoji?
A: The sideways laughing crying face. I think he is laughing harder because he is sideways.

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
A: Teleporting. I love to travel, but I don't like the travel days. That would have been nice when I was commuting!

Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: Crossfit (it is where I met Jaime!), travel research and traveling. I love looking at photos of places I want to see in person.

Q: What is something you are most proud of?
A: That Dwayne and I found jobs we love and that we work hard at them. Our work ethic is something I am proud of.

Q: What is the funniest thing that happened to you recently?
A: I cannot remember what we were laughing at, but recently I went to dinner with friends and we laughed the whole time.

Q: What two items would you take with you if you were shipwrecked on a deserted island where food and water were taken care of?
A: My husband and dog!

Q: If you won the lottery, what would be the first 3 things you would purchase or spend money on?
A: Pay off all immediate family's debts, buy a home in the Bahamas and book that Iceland trip!
