Brittany Marino
By Ashley & Andrew LeSaicherre | October 6, 2021
Meet Brittany Marino!
Brittany grew up in New Orleans and is the oldest of 3 siblings. Her family moved to Ponchatoula when she was in the 4th grade for better opportunities for the family. She attended Ponchatoula High School, Louisiana State University then Southeastern Louisiana University. Brittany is happily married to Orrin, and is the very proud mother of Carter (11), Sawyer (9) and Elsie (2) and Teddy, a three-legged poodle.
We want to thank Brittany for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.
Q: What led you to your current career?
A: I worked for Jani-King in Human Resources, then had the opportunity to work for Kismet. I did sales for them, and learned about the boutique business. I fell in love with it, and decided to open my own, Elle Eva Boutique. I was a single mom, and I opened my boutique with $500. I didn't want debt! I started doing pop-ups and shows. Casey at Chalereux offered me the opportunity to rent a retail space in March 2019. We are a women's on-trend clothing and accessories boutique.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: I cannot choose just one! For breakfast we order the pancakes from Paul's Cafe. I also love Son of a Biscuit. We are good friends with the owner, and he named a margarita after me called "It's Brittany, Bitch"! I also love Tacos and Beer and Cena for a date night.
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: When I was 11 years old my grandfather gifted me a trip to London. It was my first trip to Europe. They introduced me to travel.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Orrin and I want to go to Bavaria, Austria and Budapest!
Q: What is your favorite movie? What is the first movie you saw in the theater?
A: Steel Magnolias is my favorite. My Grammy took me to see Jurassic Park when I was young. My Mom fussed at her because she thought it was too scary for me.
Q: What advice would you give a group of people?
A: Try not to take things too seriously because life doesn't go as planned. Roll with it and trust everything is as it should be.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: Take a helicopter ride in Hawaii and hot air balloon ride!
Q: What is your favorite music or an artist/band that you would like to see?
A: George Strait! I have seen him 10 times. The first time was when I was 9 years old on Valentine's Day! Ever since I saw him in Pure Country, I have loved him!
Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: Skate Country on the Westbank. Mr. B's Pizza in Ponchatoula was also a favorite. We would go there after games in high school.
Q: If you could choose someone to go to lunch with (dead or alive), who is it and where would you go?
A: Alive- George Strait, somewhere like a cool western bar with his tequila being served. Dead- Pat Summitt, center court of The Summitt. It was always my dream to meet my 3 favorite women's basketball coaches. I never met her.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: The sense of community, especially after Ida. People are proud to be from this area. I love that younger people are staying to invest in this community and moving things forward. Like y'all, Casey, and Mandy Mae to name a few.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Parenting, still running a business, traveling more and maybe having another home to vacation to.
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: I was born with only one kidney. Also, I have been on a reality show, Billion Dollar Buyer!
Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: Wherever family is. Where my kids and husband are.
Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: For home, a housekeeper. For work, someone to model the clothes. I dislike doing that!
Q: If you had to choose one type of cuisine to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
A: Chinese and Mexican. Well, mainly chips, queso and margaritas.
Q: What do you do when you are alone in your car?
A: Listen to loud music or true crime podcasts.
Q: What is the last gift you gave and received?
A: Last gift I gave was to my friend Laura's daughter, Leah. They had a tree go through their home during Ida and it damaged her room. She had a journal that was ruined, so I gave her a replacement. Last gift I received was from my new sister in law. For her wedding she gave us a bag full of goodies, earrings, beach towels, an ornament. So many cute things.
Q: What are you known for?
A: People still have me saved in their phone as Brittany Morris! Brittany was a popular name in high school, so people would call me by my full name. Also, some people would say I speak up when things aren't right. I try to fix issues.
Q: What is your favorite 90’s jam?
A: A New Kids on the Block song, Too Legit To Quit by MC Hammer, or a Paula Abdul song.
Q: Most commonly used emoji?
A: The surprised face or the laughing face.
Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
A: To be in two places at once.
Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: Traveling, reading and watching documentaries about history, trying new restaurants, and shopping for women's clothing!
Q: What is something you are most proud of?
A: My kids.
Q: What two items would you take with you if you were shipwrecked on a deserted island where food and water were taken care of?
A: My family and toiletries (especially my chapstick and sunscreen).
Q: What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
A: My husband makes me laugh everyday!
Q: If you won the lottery, what would be the first 3 things you would purchase or spend money on?
A: Pay off house, travel with my family for a year (staying in a place for awhile) and invest in a lifetime supply of Botox!
