Meet Daniel Rittell!
Daniel grew up in Zachary in a blended family. He is the baby of seven children. He graduated from Zachary High School in 2014, then attended Williams Baptist University with a wrestling scholarship. He studied Biology, and decided to come back to Southeastern Louisiana University. During COVID, he was offered a position with Cretin Townsend Homes. He has worked as a builder for two years. He is active at his church, The Wellspring Church. He has a dog, Maui, and a cat, Nala.
We want to thank Daniel for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about his life and his love of the area.
Q: What led you to your current career?
A: I was working at a landscaping company, and was working on a job, and one of the owners of Cretin was watching me work. We started chatting, and he offered me a job. I love what I do.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: Definitely Punjabi Dhaba, their lunch buffet. Everything is so good.
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: Going with my brothers to get BBQ and Chocolate Soldiers from a local gas station. We would ride on our 4-wheelers after we did yardwork at our house.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Italy! I am actually going to go for my birthday for 10 days.
Q: What is your favorite movie? What is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: My favorite movie is Forrest Gump. The first movie I remember seeing in a theater was Spy Kids in 3D with my Mom. I was scared. I kept trying to take the glasses off.
Q: Do you have a favorite book? What do you love about it?
A: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
Q: What advice would you give a group of people?
A: Love people. Stop being so serious.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: To get my pilot license.
Q: What is your favorite type of music? Who is an artist or band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: I love classical, Christian worship, and Italian music. I would have loved to see Queen at the Live Aid concert.
Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: In Zachary, there is a snowball stand called SnowBiz. It was on my Dad's business property. I liked to spend time there.
Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met, who is it?
A: Elon Musk. I would take him to Punjabi Dhaba!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: Hammond is big, but also small. It is a melting pot.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Retired, doing full time ministry wherever I am needed.
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: I am a physics nerd. I am also an ultra-marathon runner.
Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: It isn't a place, it is a state of emotion. I feel like I can be at home anywhere. Mostly when I am with family.
Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: Personal chef!
Q: If you had to choose one type of cuisine to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: Indian food.
Q: What do you do when you are alone in your car?
A: Listen to music.
Q: What is the last gift you gave and received?
A: The last gift I gave was potted flowers to a homeowner. The last gift I received was an alter eco (clean chocolate bar) and drink from Brooke.
Q: What are you known for?
A: The runner in Hammond. I run all over.
Q: What is your favorite 90s jam?
A: Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana.
Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
A: To fly.
Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: Running, working out, playing guitar and piano.
Q: What is your most commonly used emoji?
A: The kiss face to Brooke.
Q: What are you the most proud of?
A: My work ethic, not many have the same drive as I do.
Q: What two items would you take with you if you shipwrecked on a deserted island where food and water were taken care of?
A: Assuming it is a tropical island, I would want an endless amount of coffee and my Bible.
Q: If you won the lottery, what would you purchase or spend money on?
A: My family out of debt, money to Commission Mankind and money to The Wellspring.
Q: What do you want your legacy to be?
A: I would like to be known for loving people like Jesus loves them.
