Endia Geter
By Ashley & Andrew LeSaicherre | July 2, 2022
Meet Endia Geter!
Endia grew up in Ponchatoula. She had her daughter, A'Reya, in 2001 and graduated from Ponchatoula High School in 2003. She attended Southeastern Louisiana State University, and graduated in 2008 with a General Studies and Kinesiology degree with a minor in Dance. While attending college, she was in an automobile accident. She broke her hip along with other medical issues. She had to learn how to walk again!
She started substituting at Hammond Eastside Magnet School 11 years ago, and then began teaching 6th grade Special Education 3 years ago.
Endia also is the owner and operator of Outside the Boxx Events, an event coordination business. They do any type of special event such as weddings, wedding and baby showers, birthdays, and other parties. She also runs a nonprofit called A'Reya's Angels, honoring loved ones that have passed away. The organization relies on community donors and, on the loved one's birthday, they honor them by doing something in the community that was close to the one who passed. For example, her cousin was a hairstylist, and on her birthday they blessed a woman at Loved Moved First with a basket full of goodies and a check to get her hair done.
Endia also has an annual Business and Food Expo she plans and coordinates.
She is engaged to Lennard, and is planning her own wedding! She was coordinating a wedding and he was the best man. She was busy working, and they spoke at the end of the night. He proposed on Valentine's Day this year.
We want to thank Endia for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: I love Joe's Italian Restaurant. I order the shrimp and crawfish cream sauce pasta. I also love Neyow's seafood. Murphy's Seafood is good- I get the grilled fish or grilled shrimp with cream sauce and baked potato with cream sauce.
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: When I was in high school, my cousin needed me to bring her to the hospital because she was in labor. I had just started driving, so I was taking my time, a little afraid of the road. I stopped to get gas and all. I went over my amount by a penny, so I had to go back and get a penny from the car. She was like, "What are you doing? Come on!". I got her to the hospital and she was 3 cm dilated. I was hungry, so I got some Doritos and Snickers from the vending machine, and she was annoyed because she couldn't eat. It is funny now.
