Meet Megan Ruffino!
Megan is a lifelong resident of Albany, LA. She is married to Blake and together they have a son, Benjamin (2). She attended Holy Ghost Catholic School and St. Thomas Aquinas. After high school, she attended The Aveda Institute for esthetics. She has been a licensed esthetician for 13 years. She works at QnA Medical Spa for 12 of those years and will be soon be the solo esthetician at Jade Salon in downtown Hammond.
We want to thank Megan for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.
Q: What led you to your current career?
A: I got into esthetics because I really wanted to be a freelance makeup artist, but I fell in love with taking care of people’s skin.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: Lee’s Diner. I order the Deep South wrap with extra honey mustard on the side. They have the best honey mustard!
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: Home cooked meals at my Granny’s house every night with our family.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Anywhere tropical. I love warm weather and the sound of waves.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Beauty and the Beast!
Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
A: I believe we all have a personal calling. The best way to succeed is to figure out what you love, find out how to offer it to others, work hard, and let life lead you.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: Retire early!
Q: What is your favorite music or an artist/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: My favorite genre of music is country. I would like to see Garth Brooks live.
Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: Benson Dermatology. I started going there as a teenager with bad acne. I started working for Dr. Benson in 2009. He and his businesses have been such a blessing to this community.
Q: If you could choose one person to go to lunch with that you’ve never met, who is it and where would you go?
A: I would like to have lunch with Oprah at her house in California where she grows lots of fresh fruits and veggies.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: I love the small town feel about this area.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Running kids around to extra curricular activities and trying to maintain 42 year old skin to look like my 32 year old skin.
Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: A place where you are cared for, loved and respected.
Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: Housekeeper. Daily house chores usually get put on the back burner for me since I work full time. Quality time with my family is more important to me. The dishes and clothes can wait!
Q: Most commonly used emoji?
A: Thumbs up or Crying laughing face.
Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
A: Immortality. I want to live forever!
Q: Do you have a hobby?
A: Makeup is my hobby
Q: What is something you are most proud of?
A: I made it to 32, healthy with no regrets!
