Meet Whitney Catalanatto!

Whitney is the youngest of three kids. She has a sister and brother. She attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and graduated in 2007. She then went to Louisiana State University for a few years until transferring to Delgado Community College for a Veterinary Technology degree. She became a registered Vet Tech in 2013. She works at Greene, Lewis, and Associates focusing on reproduction for horses, cows, and small animals.

She started dating her husband, Aaron, when she was 15 years old! They got married in 2013, and have three children, Sawyer (6), Ryder (4), and Eden (2). They also have a farm with black angus herd, horses, a mule, 3 dogs and many cats.

She is a member of Cowboy Church, and her children keep her busy with their extracurricular activities!

We want to thank Whitney for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.

Q: What led you to your current career?
A: I have always known I was going to work in the veterinary world. I was obsessed with animals since I was 4 years old. I went to LSU to become a Veterinarian, but decided to become a Vet Tech. I am so thankful I did, I love my job! I started part-time with Greene, Lewis & Associates when I was in high school, and I am still there, about 12 years later!

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: I love Carrabba's in Baton Rouge. We rarely go now, but I always order something with their tomato and pesto sauce. We also love Mexican and Gallaghers's steaks, they are the best.

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: I have many great memories! I would have to say spending time with my first horse, Tonka, when I was 7 years old. I would saddle him up and we would go in fields, pastures, all over!

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Australia or Bora Bora with Aaron!

Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: My favorite movie is Wild Hearts Can't be Broken! There is one vet scene that is totally wrong though, but other than that- I love it!

Q: What is the first concert you went to?
A: The first concert I went to was Garth Brooks and Reba McEntire. I was 3 years old and my uncle had me on his shoulders.

Q: Do you have a favorite book? What do you love about it?
A: I love The Clan of the Cave Bear series. There is a love story in there, but it is a well researched series about survival. What foods to eat off the land, and things like that.

Q: What advice would you give a group of people?
A: Keep God in everything, if you don't you will get lost.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: Going skydiving!

Q: What is your favorite type of music? Who is an artist or band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: I like all types of music, but I love Shania Twain! I would like to see the original Bon Jovi band or Journey perform!

Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: I love our town. We have the world's largest free fair! I was the rodeo queen for it in high school!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: It has to be the fair! The whole town shuts down for it.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Having a successful angus farm and still doing embryo work.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: I want to be a homesteader. I want to grow my own food, just being self-sufficient.

Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: Comfort- where I feel comfortable and loved.

Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: A housekeeper! Someone to wash my clothes and do the dishes!

Q: If you had to choose one type of cuisine to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
A: Mexican - we eat it all the time.

Q: What do you do when you are alone in your car?
A: Jamming to the radio or thinking about work.

Q: What is the last gift you gave and received?
A: The last gift I gave was birthday gifts to my kids. The last gift I received was a dehydrator from Aaron for Christmas.

Q: What are you known for?
A: My determination!

Q: What is your favorite 90s jam?
A: Anything Shania Twian. I also remember singing Wynonna Judd's song, No One Else on Earth's lyrics wrong. She says "How dd you get to me" and I sang, "How did you tickle me".

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
A: To fly!

Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: Our farm is my hobby. I also enjoy riding horses.

Q: What is your most commonly used emoji?
A: The thumbs up or thinking face.

Q: What is something you are most proud of?
A: My family and our farm.

Q: What two items would you take with you if you shipwrecked on a deserted island where food and water were taken care of?
A: Something to keep me warm and something to start a fire with.

Q: If you won the lottery, what would you purchase or spend money on?
A: I would tithe to our church and pay off land, I would give money to our families, then we would build our dream house and acquire more land next to us.

Q: What do you want your legacy to be?
A: That faith was important to me and that I focused on our family and farm.
